THE SITCOM AND OUR FILM COURSES!

Do you know about our film courses? Very soon we will start a new shoot with the filmmaking students, the course for young people at Bmovie School, the film school in Alicante. Last Friday, the public voting ended. Along with the votes from the students and the teachers, they chose a winner: “Alma Mater”. “Alma Mater” is the script from one of the three filmmaking groups, featuring a group of teenagers and their particularities, living their days and resolving conflicts in a foster home. Now the fun begins! Finalizing script details and kicking off the production of the first episode of this sitcom. Each of the students will take on a role within the audiovisual technical team and, with professionalism, fulfill the tasks of each area to ensure the necessary materials are ready for the shooting day. Shooting an episode of a series is the opportunity to learn how to work in the professional audiovisual world. It’s important to meet the established shooting times, understanding practically what each role entails, what their responsibilities are, and – considering all this – also learning how teamwork is organized. We are very excited about this project and we want to share it! If you love the world of cinema and want to join our courses, don’t forget that registrations are now open for the summer courses.

The Value of Cinema

The Value of Cinema

The first thing that comes to mind when we hear the word “cinema” is entertainment, but it goes much further than that; cinema is art and culture. This seventh art aims to sensitize the viewer to beauty and makes them feel part of the narrative script within the film. It provides much more than just being entertained for a few hours… Watching movies also helps the population to build a general culture in various ways. Firstly, a film set in another place or distant time helps to learn about historical landmarks and places where we are unfamiliar with the culture and way of life of the people who inhabit them, whether they are real or fictitious, or even a mixture of both. Having a film culture provides us with the skills to later develop a critical eye for the visual content we consume, such as advertisements, music videos, video products, etc., and also to appreciate the quality of audiovisual pieces.

Benefits of Cinema

In addition to entertainment, as we have already mentioned, it provides other health benefits. The sensations after watching a good movie stimulate the senses and therefore benefit our bodies, such as:

  • Relax, distract, and reduce stress
  • Helps to see problems from another perspective
  • Motivates self-improvement
  • Develops creativity
  • Facilitates reflection on difficult topics
  • Empathize with the characters depicted
  • Conveys positive messages, providing teachings to children (hence the importance of using films as an educational medium)
  • Improves social relationships
  • Many films allow us to confront our fears

And these, among other reasons, are why we should dedicate a couple of hours of our free time to watch more movies and learn about audiovisual culture, taking advantage of the benefits it offers.
